چکیده
Abstract Many studies have emphasized the importance of interspecific competition in shaping natural ecosystem communities. In contrast, few investigations explored role agricultural environments after arrival an invasive pest species. We evaluated ecological impact produced by Texas citrus mite, Eutetranychus banksi (McGregor), on resident spider mites Panonychus citri (McGregor) and orientalis (Klein) main crop area Eastern Spain. Since its 2013, E. has become most common abundant mite citrus, apparently leading to a reduction presence geographic range other related Competitive relationships were detected between banksi–E. – P. pairs using co-occurrence analysis. Furthermore, generalized linear model analysis showed that probability finding or decreases with increasing density vice versa. Principal component permutational multivariate variance found these two pairs, also orientalis–P. pair. Redundancy variation partitioning revealed how distribution three is not caused environmental conditions, but it strongly influenced their colonization history competitive relationships, since areas highest species are place first detection, do coincide geographically. Finally, mechanisms may be involved displacement possible future scenarios discussed.

Egg Production of the Citrus Red Mite (Acari: Tetranychidae) on Lemon and Mandarin Orange
Environ.Enlomol.17(4): 715-721 (1988) ABSTRACT The suitability of lemon, Citrus limon (L.) Burm. cv. Lisbon, for egg production by the citrus red mite, Panonychus citri (McGregor), was compared with that of mandarin orange, Citrus unshiu Markovitch cv. Satsuma in the field and laboratory over a 15-moperiod. The two plant specieswere most suitable during the spring (April-June), when mites gener...
متن کامل(60)Co-γ irradiation affects the enzymatic antioxidant system of the citrus red mite Panonychus citri (Acari: Tetranychidae).
Radio-(60Co), which emits γ rays, has been used worldwide in pest control. The aim of the present study was to analyze the effect of effective-low-power 60Co-γ irradiation on the enzymatic antioxidant system of the citrus red mite Panonychus citri. One day old female adults were exposed to 0.4 kGy 60Co-γ irradiation and on the, 6th h, 1st day, 2nd day, and 5th day post treatment, the mites were...
متن کاملAnalysis of Transcriptome Differences between Resistant and Susceptible Strains of the Citrus Red Mite Panonychus citri (Acari: Tetranychidae)
BACKGROUND The citrus red mite is a worldwide citrus pest and a common sensitizing allergen of asthma and rhinitis. It has developed strong resistance to many registered acaricides, However, the molecular mechanisms of resistance remain unknown. we therefore used next generation sequencing technology to investigate the global transcriptomes between resistant strains and susceptible strains. R...
متن کاملFirst report of the citrus Hindu mite, Schizotetranychus hindustanicus (Hirst) (Prostigmata: Tetranychidae), in Brazil.
The citrus Hindu mite, Schizotetranychus hindustanicus (Hirst), is reported for the first time in Brazil and for the second time in South America. Mite specimens were collected from citrus in the municipality of Boa Vista, State of Roraima, northern Brazil. Symptoms associated with S.hindustanicus infestations on citrus are described. The importance of avoiding dissemination of this mite to the...
متن کاملHall et al.: Citrus Rust Mite & the Negative Binomial 1 CITRUS RUST MITE (ACARI: ERIOPHYIDAE) COUNTS ON FRUIT AND THE NEGATIVE BINOMIAL DISTRIBUTION
Count data for the number of citrus rust mites per cm 2 on fruit across a 4-ha (10acre) area of orange trees followed the negative binomial probability distribution 79% of the time based on chi-square tests. A correlation of r = 0.993 was found between observed counts and counts projected based on the distribution. A common k of 0.149 was computed but generally appeared more suitable for mean d...
